Abstract

I discuss classical liberal economics in Spain. First, I highlight the Spanish Scholastics of the sixteenth century, and emphasize the connection, particularly through Hugo Grotius, between them and the eighteenth century thinkers. Then I jump to the twentieth century, and the figures and institutions that have advanced liberal economics in Spain. I assess the situation for liberal economics in the universities and in public discourse.
